The motor vessel Anton Tschechov was built in 1978 in the Austrian shipyard Korneuburg and renovated in 1993.

The ship is 115,6 m long and 16,5 m wide and has three Russian diesel engines a 900HP and is designed for 184 passengers and 107 crew members.

There is even an indoor swimming pool and sauna. Our small cabin 304 was far aft right next to the sauna.

After various international crises affecting tourism and the bankruptcy of the Mittelthurgau travel agency, the ship has been sailing on the Volga since 2003. There is no passenger ship of this class on the Jennisej anymore. For us, the world was still in order and we could discover Siberia from the river.
