The city gate, also known as "Puerta de Carlos V", is the only one that has been preserved to this day. It is decorated with a large imperial coat of arms. Next to it are the remains of the city wall from the 12th century.
Through the Puerta del Revellin the Way of St. James leads out of the city.
Legends dating back to 1440 tell of miracles that are said to have occurred here. Saint Berhardin of Siena is said to have revived a child here on his pilgrimage through the city. This is also said to have happened to St. Francis of Assis, who also healed a child here on his pilgrimage to Santiago.
In the square behind stands the old tobacco factory, where the Rioja Parliament now meets.
